Damhead Creek

Damhead Creek is an 812MW combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) power plant in Kent. It is designed to deliver flexible power to help power local homes and businesses.

About Damhead Creek

Located 30 miles south of London on Kent’s Hoo Peninsula, Damhead Creek provides the capital and South East with vital and flexible energy generation.

Operational since 2001, Damhead Creek leverages combined cycle and air-cooled condenser systems that help to improve the efficiency of the plant and reduce emissions to air.

A major upgrade to the site is currently underway to further improve efficiency and reliability, ensuring that Damhead Creek can continue to help keep the lights on for over 800,000 homes.

We’re also exploring the opportunity to develop a new 900MW combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) power station with carbon capture. If built, the plant would be operational by 2030 and produce enough reliable low carbon power to meet the needs of almost one million homes while creating thousands of jobs during construction.
