Rye House

Rye House is a 715MW combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) power plant in Hertfordshire. It is designed to deliver flexible power and key ancillary services to the network operator.

About Rye House

Just 18 miles north of London, Rye House is strategically positioned to serve as a reliable grid asset for the region.

Opened in 1993, the plant was built on the site of a former coal-fired power station and has undergone a major life extension investment programme in recent years that will allow it to continue to operate into the next decade.

Rye House’s robust plant design and modular system includes three gas turbines that can run independently or as a unit, allowing the site to deliver flexible energy generation to meet the needs of over 700,000 homes.
