Castlelost

The 275MW Castlelost plant is being developed to support the Irish grid with flexible generation capacity during periods of peak demand.

About Castlelost

Located in County Westmeath, Ireland, Castlelost is strategically located to complement the growth in renewable generation and will spark into operation when wind output is low.

The project is being built through a joint venture with developer Lumcloon Energy and will play a key role in supporting grid stability for EirGrid.

Construction of the open-cycle gas turbine (OCGT) plant started in 2023 with commercial operation expected in 2025.
